Dr. Chernet Leka Lencha serves as the Program Head of READIO Ethiopia and is a specialist in Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery, with subspecialized expertise in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery. He has extensive experience in the prevention and surgical management of musculoskeletal conditions, including childhood birth anomalies such as clubfoot and other congenital deformities, as well as trauma-related injuries. Within READIO Ethiopia, Dr. Chernet plays a critical role in coordinating emergency and disaster response efforts, particularly during mass casualty incidents and humanitarian crises. He provides technical leadership for surgical referral pathways, emergency preparedness, and clinical coordination during field deployments. His combined expertise in surgery, emergency response, and program coordination strengthens READIO’s holistic approach to health care—integrating prevention, timely surgical treatment, and community-based response for vulnerable populations.
