READIO Ethiopia was founded because too many lives are lost to preventable causes simply due to distance, poverty, and lack of access to basic services.

Founded from lived experience in underserved communities, READIO was created to bridge critical gaps in health, nutrition, clean water, environmental protection, emergency response, and psychosocial support.

Our work is locally led, dignity-centered, and rooted in community systems—ensuring support reaches those who need it most, when it matters most.

HOLISTIC APPROACH ACTIVITY BLOCKS

1️⃣ Health & Nutrition

Mobile medical services, maternal and child health care, ultrasound outreach, malnutrition screening and treatment for underserved communities.

2️⃣ Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

Clean water promotion, sanitation awareness, hygiene education, and prevention of water-borne diseases in crisis-affected areas.

3️⃣ Emergency & Disaster Response

Rapid humanitarian response to floods, landslides, displacement, and disease outbreaks through mobile emergency teams.

4️⃣ Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS)

Trauma-informed mental health screening, counseling, and psychosocial support integrated into emergency and primary health care.

5️⃣ Women & Girls Empowerment

Empowering women and girls through maternal health services, cervical cancer screening, health education, leadership, and community participation.

6️⃣ Youth & Community Empowerment

Capacity building, health education, volunteer engagement, and strengthening community-led solutions for sustainable development.

7️⃣ Land Preservation & Environmental Health

Promoting environmental protection, land preservation, and community awareness to support nutrition, climate resilience, and healthy livelihoods.

From Pain to Purpose The Story Behind READIO

READIO was born from personal pain and lived reality.

Dr. Lisanwork Honsebo grew up witnessing how lack of access to basic health care can change lives forever. After becoming a medical doctor, he chose not comfort, but service — working in remote and underserved communities where doctors rarely stay.

What began as a small volunteer effort in one community has grown, over five years, into a movement reaching tens of thousands of people through integrated health care, nutrition, emergency response, clean water, and community empowerment.

READIO exists to ensure that where systems fail, humanity does not.

Today, that mission continues through READIO Ethiopia and READIO USA under the READIO International network.
